BBC Breakfast Rishi Sunak Interview
Discussion
Just had the displeasure of catching some of that awful BBC Breakfast programme which I dislike at the best of times but this morning there was an interview with Rishi Sunak asking him about plans to resolve many coming problems for the UK. The interviewer asked a question but before he had time to get half a response out she was interupting him. Didn't see the whole interview but over 5 minutes and the interviewer continually interupted him, her voice being more important than the person she was interviewing. No idea who she was but it was dreadful.
Lasted about 30 seconds of the interview before switching the tv off and enjoying the silence instead. These interviewers seem to try to outdo each other with how rude and aggressive they can be but it serves no purpose; when two people talk at the same time they just cancel each other out and the interview is a total waste of time.
Ask a question, listen to the answer, ask another question etc etc… it should be for the benefit of the viewers not the gobs
te presenters so put your massive egos away and learn some manners.

Similar on GMB. I think at one point 3 people were speaking at the same time.If you ask a question, at least let the person answer it before you ask the next one.

His Radio 4 interview (Nick Robinson) was quite good.
Agreed. Some of these tv interviews are awful now.
The presenters are probably always barking more questions because that’s what they’ve got in their ear and it’s often more about entertainment than actually getting information from those making the decisions and managing the country.
Maybe the government ought to also do their own YouTube style news briefings where ministers answer questions from the public like the last bit of the covid press conferences without the media involved.
Maybe put the weekly questions up during the week and we upvote for which ones actually get asked.
Glad I'm not alone here, (actually wife thought it bad too), Rishi was just too nice, continuing to talk over her before giving up each time. Lady interviewer, if it had been 20 years ago and a bloke interviewer they'd have told them to shut up and let them answer the bloody question. Imagine Prescott putting up with it?
Totally agree about the Andrew Marr interruptions. When the BBC refer to an interview with a certain politician and start to broadcast a section of the answer he or she is giving, you can tell immediately the interviewer is Andrew Marr because you can hear his voice constantly interrupting in the background. I keep shouting at the TV during these interviews, “let him or her answer the question”. I know politicians rarely answer the questions they are asked but like to answer the question they would like to be asked, but interruptions like “alright” and “ok” don’t help.
Personally I think Andrew Neill is an excellent Interviewer, he lets the interviewee answer the question and then ties him or her up with a follow up, not an interruption.
