Last Night in Soho
Discussion
In cinema's now, written and directed by Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, Baby Driver).
A country girl moves to London for university and starts to see the past in her dreams, moving around 1960's London as a wannabe singer. To begin with she enjoys the glitz and glamour, but soon discovers Soho's seedy underbelly.
Really clever, well produced, fantastic acting from the lead actress. Good support from Matt Smith. Some fantastic twists along the way, and just a great, interesting, thought-provoking watch. 8.5/10

Im sure this film was also released on Sky recently, but I can't find it now?
Not that I'm aware of. It's an independent film, did a couple of film festivals and now in cinemas. See it quickly, as much as anything it deserves support. Booked to see this tomorrow.

Thanks for the heads up that it's in general release - will make the effort to go see it.
I was in The Toucan in Soho prior to the pandemic and noted a bunch of "we are filming here" notices around. Bar staff said it was for this film so it'll be nice to see some personal haunts on the big screen.

Didn't realise The Toucan was a real place, and I notice from Google maps that her address 8 Goodge Place does exist too.I was in The Toucan in Soho prior to the pandemic and noted a bunch of "we are filming here" notices around. Maybe not for much longer .. there's a gofundme running to keep them open. I've donated a few pints-worth, spent many a happy lunch hour stood outside over the years.PositronicRay said:
Watched this last night, enjoyed it in a no expectations we can bin it if crap kinda way (we didn't it wasn't)
But it kept reminding us of something else, less gory from 10-15 yrs ago. Any idea what it was?

Are you thinking of 'A Single Man' (2009)?

Over 2 years later the Toucan is still there, very busy last time I went in, a couple of months ago. Takeaway beers.
