Hellbound - Netflix - Anyone watching this superb series?
Discussion
Like Squid Game it's not total crap but it's not exactly amazing either. If it was an American or UK series you'd be laughing at it.
And at least in Squid Game the whole setup was secret, in this you're expected to believe the whole of Korean society is an easily led bunch of morons who'd give in to some religious nuttery & tolerate violent scum running around and it all just happens in no time at all?!
The supernatural bits are more believable than the weirdos & their organisation.

Having finished it they either didn't have a lot of budget or a lot of ambition. They have a supernatural element which no one even tries to investigate or explain past the first couple of episodes, then a lot of nutty cult stuff where they magically become influential without apparently offering much, at which point it's just another sinister fraudy organisation acting as a threat to people who'd expose it..
Is this a global thing - only in the first episode, after that we're solidly parochial.
Why/how - no one really cares.
Where'd the cult come from and why'd it become powerful - magic
You're all sinners - yay!
The last episodes sort of had an interesting core though dragged out too far, and the final scene offered a bit though as soon as they showed the location the event was a bit obvious if not the actual cause.
The only thing they're lucky with is that being Korean maybe hides from a lot of the audience how crudely made the whole thing is. Definitely not another Squid Game. And productions like Kingdom really show it up as cheap.
It was watchable but it wasn't especially good or memorable beyond the hook of the demons and them sending people to hell.

Very good summary. Is this a global thing - only in the first episode, after that we're solidly parochial.

To add.
Disjointed and incoherent.
The acting is awful.
The CGI is mediocre but I suppose passable.
Basically, It's only strength is It plays on the cult phenomenon and how powerful that can be, using a supernatural plot line to feed that ideology.
Passes the time if you have exhausted everything else.
In fairness, coming from South Korea, It's not the worst effort.
