Sky Q pause annoyance

Why, when I press pause to look at something on TV does the Sky Q box grey out the bottom third of the screen and then takes a few seconds to trturn to nomal even after pressing play?.

For example, watching the recent F1 race I wanted to look at Hamiltons front wing damage, but the greying out on the screen whilst paused made it impossible.

I wanted to jot down a part of a menu on a cooking programme wih similar greying out.

I know its a third world problem, but still annoying.

It's as annoying on Sky Q's weird way of cataloging recorded programmes in a series using icons based on the first programme rather than a normal text based list.

you can get rid of the bottom third pop up window by pressing the back button ( square with arrow going into it, middle left hand side of remote).

Plus you can control timeout of menus in set up and preferences.
