Actors, drugs and media bias.
Discussion
I started lifting weights as a teenager. By my early 20’s I was bodybuilding. Along the way I realised that in order to get properly big and conditioned steroids or, as the kids call them now, PED’s were required.
This came as something as a blow at the time. Through my teenage years (no internet) I believed that if I followed Tom Platz’s leg workout and drank the various supplements and swallowed the recommended pills- aminos, desiccated liver, L-carnithine etc then,
In time, I’d be packing a similar physique.
With age comes wisdom. I still train because I enjoy it, I’ve been consistent over the years and reap the benefits now.
Anyway, the media have, since 2017 ish, taken issue with highlighting the behaviour of actors behaving badly and abusing their power with the opposite sex.
This has resulted in many actors finding their careers effectively over, sometimes as result of unproven allegations.
I’ve found it odd for sometime now that actors seem to be given a free pass as regards their drug use in order to ‘prepare’ for a role.
I’ve seen some of the actors, whose appeal is likely to shine brightest with youngsters, are actually selling a diet/workout plan on line now. None of them, save some of the ex-wrestlers, are public on the drug use with I think is disingenuous and harmful. They all seem to trot out the same lines when asked about how they got into shape for a particular role, referencing their multi hour workouts and chicken/broccoli/rice diets.
The reality is, they are, in large part, taking drugs likely prescribed by someone who can give scientific advice on what to take, for how long and how to cycle.
I’m continually perplexed this issue gains no attention from the mainstream media at all. Perhaps next year the truth comes out? I suspect not.
