Does anyone know what the key is to get access to sky/Netflix when abroad?
I can’t view programmes on either platform on the iPad even when using a vpn connected back to the UK. Even some of the Netflix programs I’ve download before travelling won’t let me view them.
There must be a way to be able to do this, can anyone who is tech savvy give me an idea of what I’m doing wrong?
Thanks.

I am watching Netflix on my I pad from Dubai with no problem. I downloaded Surfshark for other platforms but it doesn’t work. All platforms I’ve come across still prevent viewing and detect you are in uk despite having the vpn connected to UK. Eg Sky, BBC I player, ITV Hub. To watch snippets of shows I watch on YouTube. I know this doesn’t answer your question but in my experience these VPN “changers” seem a waste of time.

If you download Netflix material and stay in flight mode, the downloads can be consumed. If you go online, you will find that Netflix has regional limitations which will lead to you being unable to view material in certain locations where it is not licenced.

Sky would need VPN or a Smart DNS to work.

Try a different VPN. I use NordVPN abroad with pretty much no issue. Sometimes you might have to refresh the connection to a different server, but Sky, BT and Netflix have had no issues for me. ITV Hub is difficult to get on since the summer but everything else I want to watch is fine.

SOunds like an iPad issue, or the VPN wasn't connected (I'm goign wiht the former as I assume you checked the VPN)

I took my laptop on holiday with NordVPM installed and Netwflix and Prime all ran as if I was in the UK. I was suprised as the broadband speed at my villa rental was poor but it all worked grand.

I just moved back from Dubai and Netflix worked OK, if I wanted to watch something on UK / US Netflix or iplayer etc. I used Express VPN.

maybe try a different VPN
