I think it's time to get rid of Sky. I just don't watch enough to justify the monthly drip.

I will miss the recording function of my Sky Q box though for channels 1-5 which I do watch stuff on.

I know I could use catch up but not everything is on there, and I like the way of looking at the TV guide and just pressing record series.

How do you record stuff? What's the best device to go for these days? Been with sky for years so no relevant experience in this area!

Humax Freesat recorder box - https://uk.humaxdigital.com/product/hdr-1100s/ It's what I currently use.

Can also get them refurbished direct from Humax (when in stock) - https://www.humaxdirect.co.uk/search/freesat?tv_pl...

I don't believe so

It's personal choice but I think the new Freesat 4K box is a better option than the Humax box the other poster suggested
We had a Humax in the lounge and were fortunate enough to get hold of a Freesat 4K box and its very fast
there is nothing at all wrong with the Humax's and in our case we got the Freesat 4K one at a cracking price so its worth checking prices out but between the two I think the Freesat 4K is the better box

How much of what you want to record isn’t available on a catch-up App for BBC ITV, C4/5 ? Maybe a Firestick or Google tv will actually cover your needs.

Not sure if this would work for you but I’ve plugged an old 1tb hard drive into the record USB port on my tv. Go to the guide and press timer record, job jobbed.

I can only record one thing at a time (and still watch another channel), I’ve been recording lots of old films from the Paramount channel such as Battle of the Bulge, Patton etc that you can’t get on catchup and aren’t on NF either…. Budget way but it works!

Do people still record?
Never failed to find anything recent on catch-up the channels free services so stopped bothering.
