Muting or avoid the beginning of TV programmes
Discussion
I quite often have to mute or try to avoid the opening titles to a lot of programmes... they just seem to enjoy ruining what’s in that episode, thus removing the element of surprise.
This is closely followed by “Coming up’” or “on the next episode”.
One culprit is Henry Cole (HCA)... he just seems to want to spoil his programmes by showing too much in advance.
Bangers & Cash do it as well, I just want to find out what they are picking up or what’s on offer as the programmes progresses...

The curse of Oak Island does this at the start, end, and every ad break as a filler to spread their content as thin as possible, edited carefully with them looking surprised and saying things like, that's gold! Top pocket find! Wow! etc and every single episode they find the square root of fThis is closely followed by “Coming up’” or “on a the next episode”.

k all.
Or those various programmes hunting for lost gold / treasure / giants etc.
k all.
Channel 4’s poor Time team replacement, digging in back gardens is a good example as well.

The answer is to record and fast forward through those bits.
Jay Leno's garage is the worst for it
Old school... Jay Leno's garage is the worst for it
If it’s live... I tend to hit the mute & avoid eye contact with the TV.
But, I watch quite a bit on the various catchup channels.. which makes ‘editing’ a bit easier.

I like his style of programmes... but admit, he can get a bit OTT sometimes, but he’s got some clever & interesting mates.(“Man....Mmmmmmm”)
I didn’t go a lot though on his recent metal detecting series.
(Especially his stupid antics with that bloody horn)
Yet another programme that kept giving too much away...about two or three episodes in advance in some cases.

i presume the 2 minute pre-title sequence is for sale to the
ad dominated US market, if you watch Big Bang you get the idea.
just wish they'd get on with it instead of wasting 3 minutes telling us what's coming up .

The skinwalker ranch programme on Blaze is good for that... up there with Oak Island.ad dominated US market, if you watch Big Bang you get the idea.

This is every programme on every Discovery/History/Yesterday type channel. It's how they turn 20 minutes of actual content into a one hour programme with perpetual coming-up > ads > recap every five minutes.
I agree, when a few hours of actual content can be stretched out to create a whole series.I appreciate that the opening sequences have to draw us in...then I suppose it’s up to the individual whether to continue watching that particular episode (or not).

You can happily skip 5 or 6 seasons and miss nothing as the recaps will reveal all. Having just wrapped up the "Season Finale" of Season 9, you can guess that they still found f*** all but you have to admire their bloody-minded tenacity and Gary's obvious free lunch though they get really excited every time they "get wood"
