Love Island 2022
Discussion
Anyone else care to admit this is their guilty pleasure?
It starts June 6th (Monday) on ITV2 etc with a new villa in Majorca and the usual selection of instagram fame crazed wannabees.
I may be 'forced' to sit through it by Mrs LV.
Yes its utter trash TV, but you can't dine on caviar and truffles every meal, sometimes you just want fish and chips.
Just me?

I do enjoy it, but its going the way of all the reality shows Big Brother, Apprentice etc.
Started off with almost credible people, now they just recruit the most insane people they can find unrelated to real life.
Almost credible? Started off with almost credible people, now they just recruit the most insane people they can find unrelated to real life.

I know what you mean though and yes it has (very) quickly slipped down the path that other reality shows have gone, very much a race to the bottom.
I'll still give it a go though, requires little brain power.

The show is simply hetro-normartive commercial junk food TV, where are the LGBTQI or Trans contestants?
It's a shame they can't make it more representative of society.
They make up a tiny proportion of the population so might not be big enough as a group to make it into a show with 12 idiots on it.It's a shame they can't make it more representative of society.

Until someone gets turbo woke about it

According to the ONS 3.1% of the UK population over 16 are LGBTQI.It's a shame they can't make it more representative of society.

If that 3% were represented in the Love Island contestants then there would be one LGBTQI contestant per year. I think they may be a bit lonely.

Since when did statistical representation matter, look at TV adverts, I am fairly confident that the representation of mixed race families and LGBTQI families in advertising doesn't correlate back to actual demographics in society but that doesn't matter.https://www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunit...

Besides, a trans woman could easily go in the villa, I sure none of the fellas would discriminate against her.
This is 2022 after all not Victorian times.

I don’t think that would go very well for anyone concerned.Managed about 20 minutes of this show last night after my missus went up to bed. Still can’t quite work out what the rules are and how you win, but anyway I watched some busty young birds in their swimsuits and quite enjoyed that for a bit.

Don't let the woke police see you using facts and logic, you will get cancelled if you are not careful. No, far better to push their own agenda and paint a totally fake version of society whilst all the while shouting down anybody who disagrees with them and taking away their right to free speech.https://www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunit...

I am more than happy to be proved wrong on this, but I believe just 0.3% of the population identify as trans. But obviously it makes sense to make one of the ten people in the villa trans as that will push the agenda that the figures are way higher than they are in reality.

Well, Michael Owen's daughter is a vile human. Yes, I have come to that conclusion after half an episode.
She isn't the best I'll grant you that. It's not nice to get things like that shared.
