Moved into our new place last, after being a VM customer for mnay mnay years.

Cannot get VM here, so have just been doing the streaming thing.

And, I have to say, I find it immensely frustrating, irritating and not as good a proposition as the TIvo box we had.

IfI want to go the streaminh option, its multiple annual subs, and multiple logs ins, which is a PITA at best.

For example, Eurosport.....I have if for one reason and one reason only - BSB/WSBK.

I am using the app, and that is just not a great experience at all. You miss stuff, yuo cant FF ads etc ect

Im not thinking of going SKY or BT with their PVR so I can get series links ect like we used to with VM.

TL;DR -Streaming isnt for me, whats the options ?

Buy a Firestick or Nvidia Shield, plug into your TV, install apps, enter passwords once and off you go... we have VM but never watch 'live' TV and will only have the TV element until the we're out of contract.

Doesnt really resolve the issue.

Today, for example, I wanted to watch BSB from Brands on the Europsort app....

No gridwalk shown, no interviews witht he podium, and where the adverts were on live is just a holding page, so you have to guess how mnay minutes,as the screen just displays the holding page, FF, stop, play and rinse and repeat.

With VM, series link auto records, and you can just FF whilst watching the program so you have a good idea of when to start watching at playback speed

I dont watch much ITV and thats full of adverts.

Just find it clunky clumsy and not the slick experience a Tivo was.

Sadly, no VM coverage in our village..

Get a firestick and get Netflix and Amazon on it. No need for normal tv. Did that ages show and cancelled the tv licence.

I've never tried to watch BSB on Eurosport but I have been watching the TdF on Eurosprt via Discovery plus app, but certainly that coverage didn't have the issues you describe (although I appreciate it might be program specific). What app and platform are you using? There's nothing ghat I know of which can give you a Tivo / Sky TV experience without actually subscribing to them.

Eurosport app on Samsung TV......
I've found that smart TV apps often lag behind the versions available on Firestick / Nvidia (Android TV) in features and speed. I've never used the actual Eurosport app on anything so don't know how it differs to watching via Discovery but what you are describing sounds much more of a production/programme specific i.e. the actual output is tailored to VM/Sky etc. and the streaming service is a bit of an afterthought bodged together with just the actual action and none of the value added bits (if you like that sort of thing). I think until the channels start providing exactly what you see via legacy services via streaming that's always going to be an issue, and certain things like being able to FWD through adverts will always be at the providers mercy.

Edited to add, it wouldn't be my choice, but I think you might be able to get a legacy alike streaming experience via Sky Glass, but again, I've never used it . Maybe someone else can chime in on that?

Its new to me that Virgin actually provide a unique service for some. I always though it they didnt have thier own cable they could still sell you the service over whoever is doing fibre in the area.
Anyway I know WSBK have a videopass for live/rerun/replay races but not sure about what BSB do.

BSB is solely Eurosport/Quest

Is the Eurosport app content really that bad? Ie no gridwalks etc? Why would they do that?

As for running issues like said many smart TVs are very clunky, as I understand they tweak/customise the android then every single app has to be debugged for every single model of TV and often it just doesn't happen; client of mine had a new Samsung TV a few years ago he planned just using streaming and the only app that was usable was the BBC. As said plugin tv boxes like firestick/mi/apple tend to work better because there's millions of people using exactly identical platforms.

Why are you happy to have virgin if it were avialable but not sky? You're essentially paying the same people for the same stuff....

There are 2 streams on Eurosport for BSB one with no ads (meaning no grid walk no filler in between the races) and one with the full day of coverage.

The OP has picked the wrong stream, you can watch it all, FF or RW, pause and so anything you need, the app is excellent

Was just going to post this. I've just watch some of it on Eurosport via Discovery+, it has grid walks, adverts all the usual stuff.

I suspect the native Samsung Eurosport app isn’t showing what I need

I’m aware of the no ads feed and never bother with that.

2 screen shots below, form the “live” feed….

No pit walk, and from the first screen I have to blindly ff and guess , and usually end up on lap 6 so have to rewind…

Second grab is directly after Steve day says “ we’lol have all the reaction after this break” and I get the screen shown.
