Hidden and Hinterland. Does the BBC not like Wales?
Discussion
My wife and I are currently going through Hidden on the iplayer and we have recently watched Hinterland.
Both series are well produced and we are enjoying them, but my God they portray Wales as an unremittingly bleak looking country. I can't imagine many people, particularly foreign viewers (if they are sold abroad at all), would view these series and think to themselves 'we should visit Wales', and I would be surprised if the Welsh tourist board had a positive view of these programmes.
I have been to Wales several times, and yes there are some bleak looking parts as there are anywhere, but generally my impression is of a largely beautiful country - or have I just been lucky with the places I have visited?
Why do the BBC do this?
