I don't usually start RIP threads and I wouldn't claim to know a great deal about her or her career but as a child I watched a lot of Murder She Wrote so there's that slightly strange feeling of it being someone I "grew up with" as daft as that might sound.

96 is a grand old age.

Yes 96 is a grand age. Even better is that she was 5 days from her 97th birthday when she died.
I wasn't a fan of Murder She Wrote, but have to agree she had a very long and varied career that lasted well into old age, so good on her.
