Always think of him presenting petrolheads programme on various vehicles, removed engine from trabant in the middle of nowhere using minimum of tools.

Wish they would repeat the series it was interesting because of Mr Coltrane.

Apparently at university he went by his real name of Anthony Mcmillan and was criticised for sounding like Prince Charles.

My favourite program with Robbie, has got to be Cracker

Cracker, with Robert Carlysle. L-I-V, E-R-P, double-O, L, Liverpool, F.C. is the episode I always remember

For all his bigger roles, the thing I remember him most for is as Bob Hoskins' car fixing philosopher mate in Mona Lisa. I remember reading that he wore his own overalls for that part, as the ones they gave him were too pristine and lacking in oil stains to be convincing.

Quite rare to see someone under a car in a film who looks like they know what to do with a spanner.

RIP Robbie.

Driving caddy across USA with roof down and film crew onboard, camera pans across to American cop on motorbike who suggests they stop, hilarious and he didn’t argue with the traffic cop

Sad news, great actor.
Met him once when I was a young lad, looking for directions driving a big American car to filming of a scene for Tutti Frutti up in Scotland.

Sad news. About 25 years ago I was driving out towards Kilearn and was over taken by a large black American car.
The drivers windows was down and the driver had his arm hanging out the window, and looked over and smiled at us in our diminutive Vauxhall Nova. It was the man himself.

He wasn’t aggressively overtaking, literally ambled past us. It was quite surreal.

Hagrid is the role that I remember him most in.

Died at 72 same age as my dad when he passed away.

Had the pleasure of meeting him once around the time of Coltranes Planes and Automobiles. I was in the process of dispatching an aircraft at LHR and he ambled into the forward galley where I was doing the paperwork to certify the aircraft. We had a quick chat but it was obvious he wanted to have a look at the flight deck (A340). Quick word with Captain and then took him up - it was before 9/11. Seemed to have a genuine interest and genuine bloke.

Remember him most for those shows and Cracker.
