Maxine (CH5 Drama)
Discussion
Recorded this when it aired last week and finally got around to watching the 3 episodes.
When I saw the trailer I wasn't sure about it but after watching the first episode it drew me in and I had to binge it.
It's about the Soham Murders in 2002 and in particular Maxine Carr's role as Ian Huntley's girlfriend.
It's well worth a watch if you have a couple of hours spare. I assume it will be available on the My5 portal.

I watched and found it interesting and dare I say, enjoyable. As much a drama about 2 10-year olds being murdered can be anyway. If I don't use that word, I'm a bit stuck for an alternative.
Was left with the view that relationships are complicated and only she knows what she knew at the time. Her obsessive cleaning after the event makes her look bad but to judge how bad, we'd have to know what she thought while she was doing it. With hindsight she should clearly have been entirely honest with the police from the start and wouldn't have ended up being perceived as one half of a double-act.
For those not familiar, she was found guilty to the charge of perverting the course of justice, and not guilty of the charge of assisting an offender. I think the programme reflected that in its recreations but I suppose it had to without evidence to the contrary.
