New series started based on the Wednesday character out of the Addams Family featuring Catherine Zeta Jones as Morticia amongst the cast.

First episode sets the scene and I enjoyed it, The family are faithful to the original and the films and even Thing looked the part. Some numerous moments, the revenge in the swimming pool in the opening scenes was good and made my eyes water smile

I’ll keep on going, 8 episodes this season I believe.

I watched 3 tonight and really enjoyed them. The online reviews were not glowing, but I can't see what they are moaning about.

There's some big names attached (Tim Burton, Danny Elfman, and Catherine zeta Jones), and it's achieved the merger between real life and comic book fantasy world well. Imo it has a Harry Potter feel to it.

The only thing that doesn't work for me are the castings for Gomez and Pugsley, just doesn't seem right. But they seem to be minor characters so far, and Jenna Ortega is great as Wednesday.

After reading about it in this thread we have been watching and enjoying the series, just up to episode 7 of 8. I hope they make further series of it.

I think Gomez is perfect, it's how he looked originally. Catherine Z.J. is brilliant as Morticia, really has the part down pat and Ortega is perfect as Wednesday, only on part 5 right now but it is so good!

Watched 1-8 during the week. Not usually my kind of thing but I did find it quite good and addictable that it took me a few days with some spare time to watch them all. If they do another set I hope they are just as good or better.

The 1st episode with the fish got me hooked biggrin

Late to the party having watched episode 1. Very entertaining though and set the scene enough for the whole family wanting to watch the rest. Jenna Ortega has it nailed.

Just up to episode 6 now and really enjoying this.
It's not normally my sort of thing but after 5 minutes I was hooked. Ortega is brilliant as Wednesday and theres a decent amount of dark humour in there for me as well.
Jones carries off Morticia perfectly and I love the cello scenes, as well as Wednesdays dance that Ortega choreographed herself

I watched the lot, as my 9 year old daughter pretty much models herself on Wednesday and is desperate to watch it. “All my mates have seen it!”

I thought it was really good, but unfortunately not suitable for my 9 year old.
yep, unnecessary swearing, but the gore is great! my 12yr old liked it but wouldnt watch it over again like she does with some stuff.

The dance scene was excellent, straight out of Pulp Fiction.

Season 2 confirmed for 2024, along with some casting news Angelica Houston and Joan Cusack.
Angelica Houston as the new Principal in place of Gwendoline Christie, they're not saying who Joan Cusack will play in this but she was Fester's wife in Addams Family Values. But with Christina Ricci being a different character in Wednesday, probably don't read too much into that.

Really enjoyed Wednesday. Lots of twists and turns, Catherine Zeta-Jones still stunning.

yesShe doesn't blink. Blinking freaks out Tim Burton, she did a take without blinking and he liked it so much they did the rest of the show like that.

It is clearly aimed full square at one particular target demographic but it is very well made and entertaining so is fun for all the family.

Yep, agree with that, very polished and Ortega nails the part.

The picture quality and visuals are also astonishingly good.

Watching with my 9 year old (well, very soon to be 10). Only watched a couple of episodes and really enjoying it. Doesn’t seem to be anything to be too concerned about so far, given her age; does it get more inappropriate in later episodes?

I can't remember anything inappropriate to be honest, no bad swear words, nothing too frightening.

I did not watch it with young kids so maybe I wasn't tuned in to that stuff.
