Films: If you was the Director
Discussion
I'd have paid whatever Sean Connery asked for to play Denethor in Lord of the Rings, and I'd have written his character as he is in the book.
I'd have forbidden Dean Martin and Ricky Nelson on pain of death to sing a single note during Rio Bravo.
I wouldn't have brought Jaws back in Moonraker.

A very damp, alien squid! Most disappointing film I've ever seen, with Shane Black's "The Predator" very close behind.
The Predator was far worse, and he should have known better. Ridley's prequels were hugely disappointing, bugger all like Alien films, and just crammed with nonsense no-one needed. cologne2792 said:
I'd have beamed Lt Cmdr Data off the Scimitar at the end of Star Trek: Nemesis.
This would restore at least a little credibility to the film and then I'd just have left it there.
I wouldn't have continued with Picard.
I'd at least have given Worf and Geordie something to do.This would restore at least a little credibility to the film and then I'd just have left it there.

Prometheus.
It could have been awesome.
It ended up a damp squib.
I might be one of the few that actually thought Prometheus was ok, it gave a base to the lore to build upon.It could have been awesome.
It ended up a damp squib.
Covenant was worse as it took that base and had a s
t on it and then went in a totally different direction.New Matrix was poor and could have been done over.
All 3 of the Star Wars sequels should either be erased from history or redone in some other time period, the Skywalker story should have ended at ep 6.
In Final Countdown the Nimitz should have stayed in 1940 and intervened at Pear Harbour.
Come to think of it, most movie plots would be improved by the addition of 'then a squadron of F14s arrived and started kicking ass'.
Non English speaking characters should either speak to each other in their own language, or in the actors own accents. Germans ETC should not be speaking English with German accents.
Similarly characters in historical dramas should talk normally, EG 'Isn't' rather 'is not'. We don't know how people talked then so may as well give them modern English. I don't mean include modern cultural references, just don't use an invented 'historical' dialect.
If it's necessary to explain who someone is to the audience, put a caption on screen rather than use contrived expositional dialogue.
'Good Morning Lord Farnborough, what's it like being engaged to Lady Sarah WItherington Scornforth daughter of the earl of Harlow, and what did your father think of her before he was executed in 1743 on the orders of Count Hertz Van Rentle?
Needless to say, if it's absolutely necessary to the plot the leading lady should keep her clothes on throughout the film. But only if it's necessary.

I wouldn't have killed James Bond!
This ^^^^^ but with added emphasis. More like...I wouldn't have killed James Bond because I had no right to do that and neither did Daniel f
king Craig!!!And on a calmer note...
Would never have released the Directors Cut of Leon. Its not needed, it a work of genius as it is and its makes their relationship seem ever so slightly peado..
I wouldn't have let Daniel f
king Craig do that that ridiculous Foghorn Leghorn, "I say boy!", southern accent in the two Knives Out films.Gassing Station | TV, Film, Streaming & Radio | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
