We seem to be an incredibly broad church here, and I'm not sure of this has been done before, but I thought it would be intersting to hear what others top 5 films are. It's a really difficult task, but I wonder of there will be a huge amount of diversity or if usual suspects, no pun intended, will pop up again and again. They don't have to be in order, just your 5 favourite films.
1. Raging Bull
2. Apocalypse Now
3. The Deer Hunter
4. Godfather 1 and 2.
5. The Mission.
.....and yes I know that's six films but I can't split the Godfather movies....that's my head above the parapet as I am so often accused of having appaling taste. I can watch any of the above again and again and still find something new to enjoy...and I don't like war films so I'm surprised two of my list are of that genre. Also surprised there are no westerns in there as I love a good Western.

1) One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest
2) Untouchable (The French 2011 movie)
3) Heat
4) Aliens
5) Blade Runner
Good list. Aliens is one of those anomalies where a sequel is better than the original, perhaps like Gidfather 2? I loved Heat, a great film and the fire fights sound so brutal. Preferred Kesey's book to the film for 'One flew over the cuckoo's nest' but Nicholson was inspired casting wasn't he? 2) Untouchable (The French 2011 movie)
3) Heat
4) Aliens
5) Blade Runner
We've had a few threads like this over the years, either top five or top ten, it's hard to keep it down to five or ten but mine usually comes down to these...

The Long Good Friday (shot in 1979, previewed in private cinemas in 1980, released in full in 1981, originally planned as a TV film special).

Great soundtracks but all of those are tediously long, dated and slow films in the most part. 2. Apocalypse Now
3. The Deer Hunter
4. Godfather 1 and 2.
5. The Mission.
.
My top 5 which I’m sure could be derided for being too modern but all have the pursuit of success I find so appealing in films.
1. Moneyball
2. Whiplash
3. The Big Short
4. The Color of Money
5. Goodfellas
