Viewing the World Rally Championship on BT Sport
Discussion
Excuse the long post in advance.
I moved house in Dec 2021 and set up a completely new BT account for my broadband AND BT Sport on TV.
I tried to watch first stage of Rally Monte Carlo WRC on the Thursday evening in Jan of 2022 only to find BT had screwed my order up and hadn't included the BT Sport in my package ...
They apologised profusely and said it would be set up and available for me to view within 6 hours.
I tried to view it the following morning and found it still wasn't available due to them using a dormant account ...
I spent 55 minutes on the phone to no avail and gave up, so I rang Sky to enquire about getting BT Sport through them. They said they'd have it available for me to view within 5 minutes. I agreed to this, and low and behold Sky did indeed deliver and I got to watch the majority of Friday's broadcasts along with all of Saturday and Sunday's broadcasts. Ergo I'm a happy bunny and thus I cancelled BT Sport with BT.
Fast forward to today and I check the hopeless BT Sport website to see what (and when) they're broadcasting of Rally Monte Carlo when it starts a week on Thursday.
The coverage is excellent, but there's a caveat, large amounts of it are being broadcast on BT Sport HD 5 and BT Sport HD 6. Neither of which appear to be available through my Sky box.

A quick call to Sky this afternoon seemed to indicate the only way to access these two channels is with a direct BT subscription (and a BT box)
A call to BT initially indicates that I could cancel my BT Sport subscription through Sky and sign up for BT Sport through BT, this would mean BT sending me a box, and paying a monthly subscription of £8.50 per month for 6 months, then £17 per month for I suspect another 18 months

However, when I click on the "See details" tab for this package, there is no mention of being able to view BT Sport channels 5 & 6 ...

Can anyone confirm the existence of BT Sport channels 5 & 6 ? Or are these just "red button live feeds" available when watching BT Sport channels 1,2,3 & 4 ?

I am on Virgin Media with BT Sport added (so I can watch MotoGP) and I only have BT sport 1,2,3 & 4 available but if I use the red button in BT Sport 1 it comes up with BT Sport 5 (albeit with nothing on at the moment), none of their other channels show anything using the red button.
Hi Peter, many thanks for confirming what I'd suspected, that being BT Sport channels 5 & 6 are indeed red button live feeds (the live feeds seem to alternate being available between BT Sport 1,2 & 3, so they're not just available through BT Sport 1 in my experience)
Worryingly, neither Sky's or BT's operators in their customer service depts seem to be aware of this red button/live stream facility
I only have BT Sport for the WRC and Moto GP ...

Just a quick follow up to my original post. As Peter rightly said, BT Sport 5 can be found on the red button whilst viewing BT Sport 1, and I can confirm BT Sport 6 can be found on the red button whilst watching BT Sport 4.I didn't need a new BT subscription to view them (as the BT customer services representative told me after he'd disappeared off the line for 10 minutes)

...and this is why hardly anyone bothers watching rallying! The racings good, but the rigmarole just to get to see it...
And the presenters quote CET ... which is slightly annoying when you get up at 5.30am to find the programme was shown live an hour earlier than you expected ...
Was a big rally fan for many years but haven't really followed it for the last ten or more so a miserable wet Sunday I sat down to watch the live coverage of Stage 18 of the Monte.
Dear oh dear. Two "comentators" yacking away, often over the pace notes being read in the car so you couldn't make out what was being said (fortunately probably because much of it when you could hear it was banal.
The on screen timing graphics seemed complex, took a while to understand.
Not be back in a hurry

Ah, regrettably you’ve stumbled across “Becs” Williams and Julian Porter. Nothing wrong with the latter, he worked with Pentti Airikkala and was a very accomplished rally driver. Dear oh dear. As for Becs Williams ? Well she’s very accomplished at waffling and irritating the f*ck out of those listening to her, Julian Porter included I suspect ...
And yes, I agree, the talking over the pacenotes is incredibly annoying, and the timing graphics are indeed pretty hopeless.
Here’s the lovely Becs Williams :
