Michael Caine: Acting in Film
Discussion
I clearly remember seeing this back in 87 or whenever it was first shown. Proper insight into his approach to acting in front of a camera. "Sleuth" let's you then see Caine's approach alongside Laurence Olivier's and suddenly you see (or at least I finally saw) the subtlety and skill of what Caine is doing.
It really is a masterclass and a must watch if you want to explore the mechanics of acting. Some of the current crop could learn that there is more to the trade than the cliched gurning which some confuse with acting. Wide eyes, mouth agape - 'Wait, what ? '. It isn't going to get you an Oscar ..
