What is this movie I remember from decades ago?

I remember seeing a movie as a kid, and am trying to figure out what it’s called.
The only thing I can remember is this:
A woman and her baby are locked in a box of some kind and possibly dumped into the sea.
Decades later they are freed and the baby has grown into a man whilst in the box.
It may have been a fantasy/swords and sorcery type movie, hence the kid being able to grow up trapped in a box.
Can anyone think what the movie is called?
