The Diplomat, Netflix
Discussion
Anybody else watching this? An 8 parter on Netflix about a reluctant US ambassador to the U.K., at a time a major British warship is attacked in the Middle East.
Her job is complicated by the arrival of her husband who she doesn’t trust, not for inappropriate sexy time liaisons but because he has his own agenda.
I have no idea if it’s realistic or not in terms of relations between politicians but it’s entertaining.
Anyway 3 episodes in and I’m really enjoying it. Acting is good, some good writing and humour too.
9/10 secrets…..

Just watched the first two episodes of series 2 and am somewhat confused even though I watched the first series. Can someone explain who is Margaret Roylin and why she is important? Thanks.
She was one of the people involved in the false flag operation to attack a British warship and is hiding the true identity of who ordered the attack, and takes responsibility herself because she does not want the Prime Minister to take the blame for it when the evidence is pointing to him possibly being involved in order to increase his status and make him look like a hard man on the world stage.Just finished series 2 last night (I was blindsided by it only having 6 episodes instead of 8) and now I am desperate for series 3.....

Yep same here! It should come with a warning.... We sat there all excited for episode 7 and realised there was no such thing. Really good series thoughJust finished series 2 last night (I was blindsided by it only having 6 episodes instead of 8) and now I am desperate for series 3.....
Yes it’s far fetched, which is something I normally have a problem with, but it’s also brilliantly written, with devious turns, subplots which take some following, all moving along at breakneck speed; top it off, it’s bloody funny.
The casting is outstanding on so many levels, Kate, frustrated by the conniving duplicitous Hal, Austin, the suave career politician, Trowbridge (excellently played by Rory Kinnear), the various helpers and civil servants all very good.
My opinion, this has been a very good year for cable/television series, this is up there with the best of them.

The writing is rather uneven, it doesn't seem to know whether it wants to be Madam Secretary or Homeland and trying to be both doesn't work well. It passed the time well enough though. I could do without the shagging, it adds nothing.
I've only seen 4 episodes and I can only recall one brief shag, when she climbs on top of hubby with her naked ass showing.....and what a lovely ass it is
