Just watched the final. Chap wins with 28 points, hooray, head in hands, phew - then I realised there was no clapping. There was no audience. His teammates didn't clap either (until he stood up to get the bowl). Bowl was presented by the host - no fanfare, no clapping, basically just 'Well done, here's the bowl'.
It seemed a very sterile anticlimax - why no audience? Is part of the BBC on strike?

We watched that last night and were puzzled that at least twice Clive said "Ive started so I will finish" we looked at each other and said that was too late the buzzer had gone before he started.
I thought the same thing. It didn't make any difference to the outcome in the end but there were definitely a couple of points that the contestants got which they shouldn't have. Simpo Two said:
I was struck by the needless length of the questions such that Clive had to gabble through them. Often you can get the answer 1/3 of the way through but they have to sit there waiting for the question to finish. A buzzer like UC would be better IMHO.
I presume they must time test the questions to ensure the contestants get the same amount of question time?Gassing Station | TV, Film, Streaming & Radio | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
