I think the term is comfort movies but as we are mainly UK based I changed it to films.

Basically a comfort movie is something that you can watch over and over again. One that you may watch when you’ve had a really bad day or feeling down. One you may watch to relax when you’re stressed out but generally one that makes you feel better. Here are a few of mine to get you started:

The Way
Jaws - its mainly a buddy film
The Man from Earth
Silent Runnings
The Worlds Fastest Indian
A Single Man

I find I have a lot of action films in my collection and am looking for suggestions of more relaxed stuff to watch.

Ok, I’ll admit it, About a Boy

Chris Nolan’s Batman trilogy is something I don’t think I’d tire of either

Great films I have them on DVD and they do get an airing, but a lot of action explosion tension etc. I was thinking films a bit slower paced to chillout to rather than going to bed wired.

Alec Guinness "All at Sea" one of those old B&W comedies from Ealing Studios. Essentially the connection was made during a very stressful time of life at work, difficulty sleeping, disturbing Mrs F, so I'd go downstairs and this would often be on the TV around 3 or 4am. It got so I'd fall asleep to it.

Think that allows it to fall into the category of the topic.

Yes, one of my guilty pleasures too. I had to watch it again today. Ever After is another.

I do like that in fact it reminds me a bit of one of my favorite films Moon with Sam Rockwell, in that they are both isolated on a planet.
Although Moon has little humour compared to The Martian and has a sad rather than happy ending.
