Watched the trailer last night......I have thoughts......
I know this is based on a true story, as in the GT Academy programme they ran for Gran Turismo. So that should easily make this feel realistic right? But watching the trailer, it felt like I was watching a cut scene for a video game and not in a good way. The story just feels really cliched already.
I'm still really surprised it's being directed by Neil Blomkamp so perhaps it'll be better than I expect but I feel like a documentary would have been a better way to go as the story is interesting enough on it's own without the added fake drama.
Won't be rushing to see it at all.

If you know anything about how Gt Academy worked it would be a documentary not a movie.
there were all sorts of things that went on there that had nothing to do with finding the quickest drivers, and everything to do with box ticking or trying to make the prize seem other worldly to kids in a council house!
Whatever, the top guys were all quick of that there i no doubt, but very few of the actual winners other than the first guy have had careers in motorsport, even Mardenborough has largely disappeared after all the hoo hah.

Looks like it's just an updated Days of Thunder in a new setting, and will have every Hollywood racing cliché.

Rather ironically, he was last seen employed by Nissan's FE team as their sim tester before they sold the team, and doesn't appear to race real cars anymore.Such is the issue with motorsport, other a handful of drivers each year with factory contracts, you have to be independently wealthy or only be relevant while your sponsor's money keeps coming in - otherwise you are just ones of hundreds of talented but poor drivers trying to find a seat.
Hopefully Jann can use the film's success to drum up some budget for 2024.
