why is itv x so crap? It's utterly impossible to watch anything at times. Continue watching doesn't work, it freezes, the screen goes black. Is it beyond the wit of man for them to sort themselves out?

has always been like that even when it was rebranded as some other ITV folly.

I avoid watching stuff on it if I can

We watched Van de Valk on ITVX on Monday. The program on Sunday fitted into a 2-hour slot. On ITVX it took an extra 20mins of ads for stuff I do not want / need.

After a 5am start that morning we both slept through the second half.

I agree, it is pretty useless.

Pretty useless. Rivals Disney Plus on that score.

I've been watching it via a Roku box. Works perfectly.

Had to get a Roku as our 9yr old Samsung TV did not support the ITV-X app for some reason.

I had found that the Channel 4 app (More 4?) was completely useless. The menus didn't work properly; selecting categories would open the next category (select Sport and get Comedy or whatever). Then when I found what I wanted to watch it would crash at the end of the first ad break. Forget trying to fast forward or pick up where you left off as well.

Put that down to poor Internet connection (we're living in the sticks at the moment). Yet it works perfectly on the Roku box as well. Even Netflix seems better in fact.

So I think it might be that my TV is crap/useless.

It is

It's significantly faster for me to 'find' the content elsewhere, without the adds and download it - that's how bad it is!

Silly beggers!

I have found it sometimes doesn't like you resuming watching a long show - even when the progress bar remembers where you'd got to.

It seems the Cupra Born is the only product advertised on there.

I dread something only being on anything ITV streaming. Terrible experience

It's the several minutes of adverts before you can watch anything that is unbearable.

I use the STV Player, which seems to have most of the stuff that's on ITVx. I seem to have less issues with it than I do when I use ITVx..

I paid for the premium service (£40 yr?) so there’s no adverts for me. It also works perfectly well on Sky box, Fire Cube & Firestick as well as the iPads.

Best just to get IPTV loaded to a firestick or similar then you never have to worry.

Useless on my Amazon Firestick. Quite often get 70-80% through a film and then freezes and won’t restart so either need to fast forward from the beginning or give up. Doesn’t remember where you were too if you stop mid programme and come back next day or even remember which episode you watched last. Had to delete and reinstall C4 and C5 apps a couple of times aswell.

My partner paid for the upgraded service (Premium?) for something like a fiver a month. We’ve watched loads on there and have not seen a single ad.

It flies on my Apple TV, the Sky Q app she has is a bit clunky.

Struggling with Channel 5's My5 player for the first time... I have to sit through seven ads before watching the programme! Ten minutes of the show, then a commercial break with another seven ads!

There's a known issue with ITVx and LG TVs which presents the same way you're describing. We had similar and I filled out their forms to report and issue and that's the response I got back

On holiday. Just watched tonight's Coronation Street at 10pm on my laptop, tethered to my mobile, perfect quality and no adverts, not paid a penny.

The issue with itv x for me isn’t the adverts or lag, it’s the terrible User interface. It’s been poorly executed and I’m surprised the functionality managed to go from development to production being tested and signed off along the way. It’s not clear what you’re selecting in the menu bar as no colour change or prominence over active options and little prominence/colour coding on the buttons. It’s like a lottery what you’re selecting. Getting stuff into production via agile/mvp is fine if you’re iterating frequently but they’re not.
