I have vague memories of this programme from when I watched it as a kid.

I remember one episode where Oscar Goldman was replaced by a robot and Steve Austin only noticed because Oscar crushed a pencil to dust when he trod on it.

And drank scalding hot coffee straight down.

I also remember, probably towards the end of it all, an episode with Steve Austin and an alien, who he might have fallen in love with. Possibly a shark-jumping moment for the series.

I also remember not questioning how he was capable of feats of immense physical strength, when his bionic arm was attached to a natural body. The leverage would at best have made him a bit wobbly, you'd have thought.

Steve Austin, Astronaut, A man barely alive. We can rebuild him. Better than he was before. Better, faster stronger.

1973 and I was 11 years old running in slow motion in the playground.

I thought that $6,000,000 was cheap even for then.

How did Steve manage with only 1 bionic arm becuase surely he would have ripped his human body in half?

Later Steve was jealous of the guy who had 4 bionic limbs including 2 arms but he went a bit mad and had to turned down.

And don't forget Jamie with the bionic ear.

I remember one episode that had this doomsday tank, low and octagonal. Burnt into my brain by fear! Anyone else remember this?

He had 2 bionic legs but ran really really slowly. https://youtu.be/Z84lFV7qLTk?t=45

Get back in the car Steve, you'd be quicker.

Also what would have happened if he only lost 1 leg in the accident. Would he just run around in circles?

All the modern so called super heroes are just a pale reflection of the mighty original Steve Austin.

Andre The Giant hooray and no Oscar Goldman for the first few episodes…..Steve Austin was an experiment that was farmed out to the government for foreign missions. Initially a film that became a TV show I believe. They changed the opening music and the sounds of his bionics too. Great 70s TV.

I saw a bit of one of the episodes on YouTube... I loved the series as a kid but it hasn't aged particularly well...

Was it intended to be used as a Venus Probe?

YES
I remember that one too. Was on a hill or mountain or something

I suspected this re run would chime with a lot of people of a certain age. It's one of the few tv series from around my schooldays that hasnt been re run. Pretty much all the others from New Avengers, Starsky + Hutch etc have been reshown
One of the few apart from Six Million Dollar Man is a thing called (I think) Target with Patrick Mower in it.
