Yep. Watched the first 3 so far.

It's okay, but I find the bit about buying something for £x, spending £y pounds on it and whacking a price tag on it of £z, and then claiming £z - £x is the profit they have made, whilst completely ignoring the £y that they spend it on, rather stupid.

Doesn't look like he's taking any anti-static precautions (earth strap) when changing chips etc?

Think I saw a few minutes of this yesterday, unsoldering and resoldering connections. Maybe I caught it at a bad moment but had to go out and watch some paint drying.

I've just watched the C64/Spectrum episode. Quite enjoyed it having owned a 64 in the 80s. It's actually in the loft along with my Amiga and its tempted me to get it down and get some retro vibes back. It was no surprise to hear he thought the build quality of the 64 was way above the ZX.

Will probably watch a few more episodes.

It's like James May's Reassembler done on the cheap. With stupid bits added in.

But it's alright.

Watched a couple of episodes but was not impressed. 'My Mate Vince' on Youtube is far better.

I've been watching it as nerdy audio repair stuff is right up my street and, generally, it's good and Rob seems a knowledgeable chap.

However, turning the jukeboxa couple of weeks ago into a glorified Bluetooth speaker with flashing lights had me close to throwing stuff at the TV, and the whole concept of Shamil and his dad T buying stuff for Rob to repair and make a profit is completely unnecessary - they could just ditch that bit without making the show any worse. Given the monster £10 profit they made on the Commodore and ZX Spectrum, there are also worrying shades of Wheeler Dealers there.

As an aside, Shamil and T run Armstrong Audio repairs. Why aren't they doing their own repairs on the audio items?

I think it's quite a fun programme too and makes a change from the various ropey car programmes anyway. But like any of these shows I totally ignore the stuff about prices.

I was quite unimpressed by the first few programmes, particularly the one where the jukebox was gutted. This week’s edition was, I thought, a lot better with a proper repair on an old b/w 405-line TV and an Elna sewing machine. The whole profit thing is a joke, though. The cost of the repairs surely far exceeds any profit and in any case they made a £50 loss on a portable 8-track player.

The things in it this week were interesting to look at including the 8-track. That's the main reason I watch really.

We bought this for £400, spent ages on it (which costs nothing it seems) and we want to sell it for £600, so that's a £200 profit. But we ended up selling it for £350, so, erm, oh..

You might as well say "We bought this for £400, and are aiming to sell it for £1 million. So that's a £999,960 profit".

The repair bits are interesting, but the buying / selling bits are nonsense and just waste time. Shame as it had potential as a series.
