Silent Night Directed By John Woo
Discussion
Is there another thread covering this film?
Anyway, watched it at the weekend. It's not bad, but not outstanding either. The gimmick soon wears thin, but the action is superb. Typical John Woo flair, aided by a very talented lead.
One thing that did annoy me (and it's the same complaint I had about 'Face Off', another Woo film) mum's grief is nothing compared to dad's. The li'l lady doesn't matter, it seems. Only Pop really cares about the sprogs.
There are worse films available. There are also better ones.
6.5 background radio mutterings out of 10 dead Mexican gangsters.

I took it that she was grieving, but she's that good of a wife, she wasn't allowed to grieve as much due to the concern for her husband and she did much of it in the background.
She remained strong while her husband fell apart.
Eventually it did get too much for her and she had to leave.

Yeah, that's my point. It's all about dad. Mum just gets pushed to the background so that we can focus on dad's grief, cos 'woman is strong'. Same as Face Off. I just find that ruins the film/s a bit. She remained strong while her husband fell apart.
