There are some great films I never really tire of seeing eg Aliens. Not that I would put it on…but if came on the TV I would probably watch it again.

However there are some films I thought were great and I know I should show them to my daughter…but I can’t face watching them again. A good example is American History X. Such a great film but somehow I can’t summon the mental reserves to watch it.

There are some films that I would like to see but for similar reasons never get around to it.

Schindler's List... A great film, and everyone should watch it, but can't go through the horror of watching it again, knowing that things like that actually happened.

‘Schindler’s List’ is one for me, as is ‘Fury’.

That should be in the 'Great films you've been putting off watching because you're a big fat scaredypuss' thread.

Is it good? Supposed to be one of the best.
It's excellent. The main character lad just has a face of sheer bleakness, and the film just exudes misery and creeping horror. It's just so bloody good at what it does.

Heresy I know, but sadly, a lot of Scorsese, it's not his direction,
just the subject matter, full of horrible people doing horrible things.
His fetish for mobsters is a bit weird.

Raging Bull
Taxi Driver
Goodfellas
Mean Streets
Casino

Love his music and comedy films, but much of his output are a watch once, I'm done.

Hotel Rwanda. Liked it enough when I saw it at the cinema that I bought the DVD, but it's still in its wrapper.

One flew over the cuckoo's nest. Like you I know I should show it to my daughter, but I just can't bring myself to rewatch it.

The Butterfly Effect, a great film... but I introduced it to quite a few people & have sat through it enough times now.
(And of course Titanic).

Westworld... The original, with Yul Brynner.
Tremors

Aguirre, the wrath of God,apocalypse now and the deer hunter, all brilliant but brutal films.
Also the passenger with Jack Nicholson for a very upsetting scene which wasn’t staged although the final scene is sheer brilliance.
Can’t watch any of these again but still often play the soundtrack to “Aguirre” by Popol vuh as it is mesmeric but unfortunately the Spotify release misses out the best pieces.

Straw Dogs (mentioned above) I could watch time and time again.

But for me it’s The Green Mile.
