Portrait Artist of the Year
Discussion
One of my favourite TV programs, I'm in awe of artists in general but the portrait painter conjures a certain type of magic.
Sky Arts, Freeview 36, are currently broadcasting the semi final 2023 but often show previous year's competitions. Perhaps if you subscribe to Sky you can access the whole back catalogue.

Can't see any comments on the 2024 Series which finished this week.
Personal preferences but I thought the winner was average, there were better painters in his heats and the final.
Maybe I'm a traditionalist but I think the judges look to be controversial rather than selecting a good likeness.
Can't even be bothered to watch the winner paint Lorraine Kelly.

Ha! My wife and my thoughts exactly! We were stunned that he got through to the final, especially after the Joely Richardson round where we thought his painting was awful. We did feel they just picked him as his style was different from the usual winners. We also aren’t sure if we can watch the final.
The really liked the other two finalists. I liked the other guys style, although thought his wasn’t quite as strong in the Andy Serkis final. But I feel both were to ‘conventional’ for the judges.
