was just reading the Best TV series EVAH! thread and got me to wondering which TV series looked fantastic (don't care about if the series was good, bad or indifferent).

What prompted this thought was me watching Foundation and thinking that it just looked stunning and wondered what else had those 'blow me away' visuals.

Westworld had some stunning moments, as did GoT - I guess series like Vikings, whilst, looking great don't move me the same way as a purely made-up world...

Mortimer and Whitehouse. Gone Fishing.

May not be the answer you were expecting. However if you have seen it much of it has breathtaking shots, usually from a drone of fabulous rivers and lakes . Some of it distracting from the content for me it's so stunning.

I even told my Aussie mates to watch this as it's such a lovely postcard of the British countryside.

The BBC really can some beautiful TV. The current Planet Earth series is chock full of visually stunning moments. Even Top Gear was consistently a great looking show in its time.

There is some great cinematography to be found in all sorts of places though. Stranger Things has some stunning visuals at times (maybe growing up in the 80s helps here biggrin).

Band of Brothers is another. There are several shots in that show that are forever painted into my memory.

I didn't think much of Breaking Bad as a show and I don't know if it qualifies since it's not exactly a "pretty" thing to look at, but there was something about the way they shot it that was really interesting. They stuck cameras in all sorts of unusual places.

Fantastic LOOKING is what the thread says.

I wouldn't say the old version of "All Creatures..." would qualify as great LOOKING. I liked the series at the time but by today's standards the visuals are rather soft and muted and washed out - courtesy of the 16mm film cameras they used to shoot the original coupled with the very "studio bound" direct to video interior shots.
That was typical of BBC series in the mid 1970s.

Indeed, little to admire pre 1080 HD big screen,
Edge of Darkness, Jewel in the Crown, I Claudius,
The Singing Detective, all great TV but could only
aspire to be cinematic due to the limitations of
fuzztastic, 16mm small screen image quality.

Obviously Life on Earth and similar wildlife Attenborough stuff is a treat for the peepers.

The series that I recall noticing as looking "glossy" was "Hotel Babylon". I don't know if it's just that I'm always impressed by night-time city-scapes and they had one in the opening titles, but even though I wasn't watching it in HD it still seemed to be different somehow.

Definitely The Persuaders, Lew Grade through everything at it, even the English set episodes shot in autumn and winter looked good.

Narcos.

Spectacular cinematography, beautiful Medellin, contrasted with extreme violence.

The original one or the recent one ? I can't understand what you all see in it . My view is it's awful.

Tubbs with a pet crocodile ,living on a boat .

The original.. the remake film was forgettable. The original was 'of it's time', the fashion, the cinematography, the music of the day. The 80's was the last best decade. IMO.
