Netflix - Your advert-supported plan is not available

Been in Thailand for nearly a month. Connect to Netflix via our vpn (surfshark).
Its worked totally fine.
Yesterday started getting "Your advert-supported plan is not available in this region".
Spoke at length to surfshark and pretty sure its not an issue with connections etc.
There are 2 possibilities. Netflix are just straight up blocking SS.
Or. That netflix are no longer allowing people with the bottom plan to watch anything outside their home country?
Anyone else got similar issues?
It only seems to kick in when the adverts play, then after that it locks you out. So I am pretty sure its the way netflix are looking at where the user is?
