Bizarre accents

Charlie Hunnan, putting on a really bad Irish accent (I think it is Irish!) WTAF. Why? The character he is playing is not Irish (it being set in a completely different universe), so why would the director ask (or allow) an actor to put on an Irish accent? Especially when he can’t do it! Bizarre.
Any other examples?
Apart from Dick van Dyke in Mary Poppins. At least there was a reason for him attempting a cockney accent.

De Niro in Ronin. What colour is the boat house in Heyyyeefud? U wot M8?
Sean Connery in everything not Bond but especially as a Russian submarine commander. Tennish? I don't even have my racquet.
Stephen Graham as a Cockney gangster in Snatch. Excruciating.
Also in Ronin: Jonathan Pryce's Oirish accent. Deirdre pronounced Dardra? Painful. I'm sure De Niro looking like he's sat on a thistle when driving has been mentioned, if off topic. Natasha McElhone tho..Sean Connery in everything not Bond but especially as a Russian submarine commander. Tennish? I don't even have my racquet.

The Charlie Hunnan thing I mentioned to the missus. It was in nearly every county in Ireland and Belfast via Mumbai at one point. He’s a Geordie isn’t he? Not an accent per se, but I do love Lucy Worsley's rhotacism. She and her team are surely having a giggle when coming up with programme titles such as "Empire of the Tsars: Romanov Russia" (featuring episodes "The Road to Revolution" and "Age of Extremes"), "Suffragettes" and "Victoria & Albert: The Royal Wedding".
Tango & cash has possibly the worst attempt at a British accent in the history of cinema

Anthony Hopkins in The World's Fastest Indian. A Kiwi with a West Country accent?
He apparently did adopt a reasonably good early 20th century NZ accent (and a Kiwi friend of mine told me that people in the southern parts of the South Island do sound more English)https://www.flicks.co.nz/features/an-expert-analys...

Jason Statham's Transporter American accent. He's like a mid Atlantic Phil Mitchell.
I was watching Ghosts of Mars the other day. Even something approximating his own accent sounded ludicrously fake and bordering on a speech impediment. If I were him I'd commission an AI Charles Hawtrey to dub me in everything.
