Watched and loved Yellowstone, Deadwood, Bass Reeves...Justified maybe a push as a western but for the purposes of this discussion it fits. Liked 1923 but not hugely, same with Joe Pickett. Looking for something similar too watch. Any recomendations?

Edit...just noticed Hatfields and McCoys, good cast, good reviews, will give it a go.

Curveball, western series doesn't have to be set in America, I've loved some of the Australian stuff...seems to have same kind of minimalist, pithy scriptwriting...

I'd forgotten about this, another one for my list...I'll see if it's on Amazon or Netflix. What about 1883, any good?

Not seen it, nor Deadwood which is supposed to be good.

Another one I'd forgotten, has a cast I like also. Added to list! Thanks

Deadwood, without being pretentious at all, has a Shakespearian vibe, what a script.

The first series of Westworld mixed sci-fi into the Western genre. I wish I could go back and watch it again for the first time. Don't bother with any of the subsequent series though. S1 finishes "well enough".

Firefly had Western vibes.

I loved 1883. 1923 seemed like it was going somewhere and hadn't quite arrived. I hope there's an S2.

The Deadwood series was amazing - the continuation film not so much, although it was good to hear the poetry in the language again.

Yep some of the monologues are outstanding, some fantastic characters. cancelled way too early though so be warned that much of their storylines are unresolved.

They did follow it up with a film to wrap things up much better.

Mystery Road (films or series), unless that's what you're referring to as Australian stuff.

Haven't seen the film yet. Westworld doesn't appeal. Didn't like the original film, not a sci-fi fan, but it does review well. Thanks for the suggestion.
