Anyone watching this on the Beeb?

Thoroughly enjoyable & nudging serious subjects around male ageing.

Sweden looks glorious too.

Very enjoyable watch, although I suspect it won’t be long before the TG haters turn up to tell us how awful it was.

Aye not bad, didn't have the chemistry between them that Clarkson and Hammond did on their road trips, however I do appreciate this is not a show about cars, 5/10 for the show (still head and shoulders above 90% of current TV output IMHO) and 10/10 for Sweden, looked stunning! I do find McGuinness a hard watch in most of what he does though, maybe with the exception of Phoenix Nights but I suspect that was down to the brilliance of Kay's scripts.

I thought it was thoroughly enjoyable and a nice way to warm up for Gone Fishing on a Sunday evening.

Also just finished episode 1. Throughly enjoyable, liked it a lot.

Have been saying recently to the missus that I’d like to do more ‘outdoors’ stuff, so very well timed too!!

Commented on the Chris Harris Podcast thread as there wasn’t much else on here.

I loved it (have watched all three). Paddy can do little wrong for me because of Phoenix Nights but I thought he was great. Certainly a million times better than Flintoff. If you consider the various Top Gear reboots, the relationship between Chris and Paddy seems to me to be the most comparable to Clarkson Hammond May in terms of authenticity.

I now want to go to all 3 places and I’m disappointed that there aren’t 3 more episodes.

Personally, I can align with Chris after the fitness test. I think I’d come out as 85 rather than 66 though. Food for thought.

Enjoyed that, Outdoorsy stuff (MTB/walking) is my therapy too so I related to lots of it!

The V70 looked bloody lovely too.

Gothenburg and the archipelago they went to is as lovely as it comes across in the programme too - well worth a trip for a few days imho

Just watched it had not heard about it but found it a really good Sunday eve watch, beautifully filmed and interesting to see them doing new stuff and nothing related to cars.

Look forward to the next ones.
I did think it’s a shame Fred could not be there hopefully they can do one with him in the future.

Conversely, I think it would have been a disaster with Fred there.

Really enjoyed it.

I could hear the ‘top gear meets gone fishing’ pitch as I watched it but that’s no bad thing at all.

Reconciling CH’s whining on JRE with the spectacular scenery did take a little of the shine off it, but I’m looking forward to the next episodes smile

I enjoyed that a lot more than I thought I would. Paddy didn't shriek much, and they really appeared to get on well.

I don't know why you think TG haters would care as it's not TG.

Anyway, I like TG but this programme, well.....so as not to include any spoliers this review sums it up for me.

Well look at the first post after mine above - immediately says it doesn't have the chemistry of CHM and gives it a 5/10. Personally I thought it would have taken a few more posts but there you go.

Sorry, I'll buck the trend, just didn't get it.
We sat watching it, and they would mention something 'Swedish' last time I looked outside we have a load of woods, lakes, sea, rollercoasters, etc in this country. scratchchin
I appreciate it's more about the population of that country's mindset but you could have filmed it in the Lake district.
But for reference we then started to watch the fishing thing, now I quite like Bob Mortimer but about 5 minutes in we just looked at each other and had the same expression, I switched over to Mat Armstrongs latest upload.
Will probably watch the others in the series as we like a Travel Programme but not sure if I fancy Greece or Switzerland.

I got a bit dizzied by their rushing about. Spend more time chatting to blokes with their knackers out. Do something a bit better than have a tug of war and a bit of stone-lobbing and so on. It was nice, I enjoyed the chat (I think both are genuine guys), but it could have been, well, better if less frantic.

When 'exercising' in the forest, where did the sledgehammer and the rope magically appear from?
And while I was ok with hammering the tree stump, was there any need to give the healthy tree a bashing? rolleyes

I've only watched the first Sweden episode but I really enjoyed it! Looks like a beautiful place to visit and the chemistry between Chris and Paddy appeared very natural.

It also seemed like Chris was there for very personal reasons as well, rather than just to make a TV show. Sounds like he's had a tough few years mentally but hopefully he's on the up.
