Fantastic film, and does a great job of bringing the series to a conclusion.

I've got everything else in the series on UHD so must get around to re-watching them. I haven't watched pt1 yet so probably best to just jump to that so I can catch pt2 (or the renamed Final Reckoning) whilst it's still in IMAX.
To be honest, I can't really remember much of any of the plots of the previous films (just enjoyed the action and stunts) and I hear that there are a lot of callbacks in this one.

Not crucial to rewatch any of the previous films, but as long as you have seen them all previously then you'll appreciate the references that are made to them during Final Reckoning.
See it in IMAX if you can, During part of the movie the suspense went on for ages. The previous films had freedom to take the plot wherever they wanted, whereas Final Reckoning concentrates on bringing the previous films to a conclusion. I'll be going back to watch it a few more times when it's officially released, an fact I have a ticket booked for Wednesday in IMAX.

te compared to Dolby Atmos in iSense. Top Gun Maverick was way better in iSense.By some distance it's the worst one in the series.
The script is predominantly exposition. The plot is incoherent and the motivations of many of the characters are illogical or very poorly explained. And we seem to have gone from one film all about stopping someone getting a couple of small nukes to some guy who can apparently stick megaton devices wherever he likes.
There is no chemistry between the characters at all, the absence of Ferguson, Baldwin, even Renner has left a huge hole in the cast.
I see media pieces about how the director likes to go with the flow and make it up as he goes along. Well, here's a tip, perhaps in future spend a little more time actually crafting a script with some dramatic structure.
The stand alone stunts are technically impressive.

Cruise and McQ come up with huge set piece stunts they want to do, a lot of work takes place on the feasibility and planning the execution of them, and then when they have firmed those up they then have to write a story to join up the big set pieces.
