Fascinating couple of programmes about Guy at a Marines Training Camp, north of the Arctic Circle and 200 miles from the Russian border.
Twice the age of the lads there he put up a good account of himself.

Watched both episodes last night - fair play, he does get stuck in.

Loved the target ID picture the sniper team had of him, with notes down the side like "crashes often" biggrin

I love Guy Martin shows, but this one is hard to watch - seemingly so much anti Russia "propoganda" (can't think of a better word), and pro UK military.

I've been out of the UK for a while, is this usual for British tv nowadays, or is this something different?

I haven't seen t yet, but what do you honestly expect? Putin is the one of the world's biggest despots, waging a war on his neighbours and threatening global peace.

It's just that's it's unusual for a Guy Martin show to be as blatantly political, or that he presents carefully controlled "facts" about the current world. It went so far imo that it lost credibility (the scene where he listened to radio excerpts for example).

It was very obviously a military PR vehicle & made me wonder if the British TV/media are showing more of this sort of show, and what that means. Is it preparing the public for an upcoming war, or just playing to the current "Russia is bad" sentiment.

Not a Russia supporter in any way btw & it's not that I disagreed with the show, just an observation of an ex-pat Brit.

There was a fair bit of soft propaganda in it, but why the hell not? I doubt Russia are shy about telling everyone their version of events on Russian telly.

Overall, Guy had a danm good go at everything thrown at him, certainly didn't embarrass himself, and did it all with a smile on his face. Struck me that he's exactly the sort of person the Marines seek out as recruits.

Quite entertaining and guy and his voiceover guy are as usual great.
Guy is ok as a lot off stuff but you can see he isnt one for war and war games and in the real military would get a hard time.

If you liked this you'd probably like "Behind The Lines" which follows 25 Royal Marines going through the Mountain and Artic Warfare Cadre training programme in 1985
