Having seen the listing, I'll be unlikely to be watching.
Add that to the Edinburgh fireworks being cancelled, could be an early night.

Saw the Rats when they headlined at an 80's open air park thing at Leeds a few years ago - they were ste. Nik Kershaw on the other hand was brilliant.

They’ll never top Ade Edmonson performing with the Kaiser Chiefs.

Why is Frankie Boyle playing guitar for the Rats? biggrin

CMAT is odd but OK

And now it's the inevitable Ruby Turner frown

I lost interest in the show a few years ago when I found out it wasn't 'live' - a bit like a child finding out Santa wasn't real. biggrin

We had it on but not really watching. Was Vic as unfunny and awkward as usual ?

I agree. It seems farcical to have a studio of people celebrating “now it’s 2025!” When it was actually recorded a few weeks ago. I reckon either have a genuinely live show or just have a music show that doesn’t pretend to be live.

I quite enjoyed the Hootenanny this year. I liked Jungle, had heard the song Let's Go Back a few times but didn't know who it was. CMAT was interesting especially her first number. The Boomtown Rats again I liked them but I really enjoyed Dead South even though they were only on briefly. I will check them out on Spotify. Reminded me a bit of Hayseed Dixie. All in all, It was for me one of the better ones in recent years. Even Jim Moir didn't seem to pissed.

We stopped watching it years ago - same old guests, same OLD artists and all his mates.
And to top it all, actually recorded in October I think.
A bit like SCD pretending there’s another show on Sunday…..

The best one for years, might be my age or taste in music but it was spot on.

I did think it was recorded much earlier tbh but hey I’m wrong.
As a rock/prog rock/indie music fan, there is nothing that appeals musically on Hootenanny which is a shame. Obviously my opinion but Hootenanny is just like a little cosy club for all of Jools’s mates (eg Vic Reeves, Ade Edmondson, Ruby Turner, Dawn French, Lenny Henry etc etc)

I thought Roger Taylor / Louise Marshall were really good. Toby Lee like a British Joe Bonamassa. Overall a good effort. At least all the acts are playing live (at the time of recording).

Boomtown Rats were ace. The guys are touring later this year.

Jo Brand sat stony-faced throughout, why this awful fun sponge gets an invite is a mystery.

Also one who lost the magic finding out it isn’t live, haha!

I loved watching Jools Holland on a Friday night I think, the regular show, probably close to 20 years ago now. Think it was on just after Jonathan Ross. Good few hours viewing for a teen that, found a few bands from that show.
