Really good CIA series.

Staring Michael Fassbender, Richard Gere and Jeffrey Wright.

It's set at the US Embassy in London.

Overall I thought this a pretty good series. Far better than Day of the Jackal, sky st out not so long ago! Not that surprising given the respective budgets and producers

I'll put my points in spoiler tags

Biggest gripe is Martian. I get that he's a good spy. Knows his stuff, did a good job at several points in on the hoof thinking that saved problems. But I cannot for the life of me see why he fell in love with Samia though! It makes no sense! He tells people don't get too attached. When he didnt answer that phone I thought "good plot twist" but then in the finale he blows it all up again! Fassbender is great in the role though. I know its a set but I like his apartment too biggrin

Normally young actors are a bit st. But the girl playing his daughter was good to. Well judged, not OTT like an episode of Eastenders

CIA staff were all believable too. No hero's. Just people working hard at their job. The Psych Doctor was well written to. Again not OTT trying to get Martian taken off duty or forcing him to do the sessions.

The new recruit off to Iran was also believable mostly. Few wobbles but not a problem for the show. The Reza character hopefully will become more important in the future. He just seemed wishy washy and hardly demanding or inspiring to those around him

Hugh Bonneville. Not a surprise he put in a good showing. The character is odd to a degree. Why would he need a mole really in the CIA? We ARE allies. Sometimes conflicting, but fundamentally, they can find out enough about each other if they need to without needing a full on inside man??

David Harewood doing the worst accent of his career! laugh The rest of the "delegation" were all believable. They weren't being despotic really. Just trying to get funding for their homelands. And it was good for a series to make the characters rounded and not just nutters with no overall plan. The Chinese ARE doing the soft power thing in Africa after all

I'm looking forward to S02
