Just binned off Sky after 21 years so using apps for most things. The All4 app on my 4K Chromecast is jerky as hell when its fine for everything else. My LG TV is older and doesnt seem to have the All4 app for comparison, however reading on reddit etc it seems to be a common complaint no matter what device you run the app on. I did chuckle at a comment that funnily the adverts never jump, only the programmes you are watching.

Anyone found a workaround or is that just how it is?

No issues on Android TV or Apple TV for me that I have noticed. I tend to watch live rather than catchup though, like you have recently binned off Sky and switched to TV Launcher on AppleTV so I now stream all of my content, gives me a handy TV Guide and it launches the associated apps directly from there.

I will say I never had a decent Chromecast experience on the older or newer ones, might be work trying a different device if you can get access to one.

Thanks for that. Interesting and glad I asked now as reading Reddit the implication was that the app is just crap. Just arrived at my dads and he has some new EE TCM box he got free with his BT Broadband but doesnt use it (as uses freesat / apps via his Sony TV). We just loaded All4 and watched a programme that is jerky for me and its fine.

Interesting what you mention about your Chromecast experience also. I am noticing more and more apps on it are jerky but very subtle vs All4 which is horrendous. I will admit I just assumed Chromecast ran AndroidTV anyway but seems the older ones run ChromeOS. When I am back home I will see if it makes any difference running All4 app on my ipad and cast it via the Chromecast to see if that makes any difference.
