The Body In The Bag
Discussion
A repeat, interesting though, which theory seems the likeliest, murder or misadventure ?
I'm leaning to the people get up to the strangest things in the privacy of their own home theory , only really in novels do people get bumped off by assassins working for rogue factions within intelligence organisations.

No question, murder most foul……I'm leaning to the people get up to the strangest things in the privacy of their own home theory , only really in novels do people get bumped off by assassins working for rogue factions within intelligence organisations.
No finger prints on the edge of Or inside the bath, or the pad lock ( someone wiped these areas down ) the press were fed the X dressing etc line.
A KGB defector has stated that he was killed by having poison put into his ear.
Due to someone putting the heating on in the flat & being in the bag for some days, the body decomposed quite quickly thus ( so it was said ) this made it impossible to tell if there were any bruises or signs of injury etc.
Putting the bag in the bath, ensured that bodily fluids ran down the plus hole and not onto a carpet or flooring.
I don’t recall hearing any mention of CCTV in the road being trawled through ?

How does someone zip the bag up, and then attach a padlock. i also read the Velcro handles were done up, which is impossible if he was on his own?
They only thing could have been misadventure involving another m16 agent and it was covered up, but he clearly didn't kill himself on the balance of probabilities.

What about the other residents of the building, did they hear or see anyone / anything ?They only thing could have been misadventure involving another m16 agent and it was covered up, but he clearly didn't kill himself on the balance of probabilities.
I always thought this to be a very intriguing case. I’m sure at some point they invited an escapologist to attempt to get in the bag and they couldn’t do it after a good number of attempts. I’d have probably given up after one attempt.
I always felt the cross dressing aspect was perhaps a plant of some sort. However I seem to remember one of the spy’s previous landlords having to rescue him following tying himself to a bed - most odd.
I also find the fact that he’d been missing from work days and it barely raised any concern with his Line Management. I seriously doubt the truth will ever be realised.

Yes he handcuffed himself to his bed, which is easily done I guess. But putting yourself in a bag, zipping it up, padlocking it, and closing the velcro handles, is impossible.
Unless there was someone else in this relationship, but I think he was killed. And the truth will never come out due to his job.
The cross dressing stuff, I imagine a lot do that and isn't relevant.
I think drugged and then left to die. Heating turned on to destroy evidence.

Why kill someone and zip them up in a bag like that? How easy is it to zip someone up in a bag anyway? It seems impossible that he could have done it himself and pretty unlikely that anyone would set out to murder him that way. I wonder if there was someone else involved in something consensual that went wrong.

Because they couldn’t get the body out of the house easily, so, into the bag and then into the bath and the heating put on. The heat build up in the bag plus the central heating Plus the summer temperature, all combined, would rapidly cause decomposition, then, as the body fluids leak out, through the bag and drain down the plug hole. No mess ( and forensic evidence ) as there would be on a floor or carpet and easy to wipe down the baths surfaces etc etc. Leaving the bag in the lounge etc, would mean the neighbors noticing the stench of decay.
It was stated that due to decay, it was impossible to tell if he had been beaten. His killers knew all of this.
Whoever did this knew that he wouldn’t be found for days, which gave the body the necessary time to decompose enough to destroy any evidence.
It seems unbelievable that the alarm wasn’t raised for 8 days….
It’s unlikely the truth will ever be known, due to his job.

I believe 2 escapologists were consulted re getting into a bag the same, it just couldn’t be done ( unless the body was very freshly dead ) I always felt the cross dressing aspect was perhaps a plant of some sort. I believe that the “ cross dressing “ was thrown to the Press as a Red Herring.
He had previously hand cuffed ? Himself to a bed & had to be rescued.
And yes, his managers, just WHY did it take So long for the alarm to be raised ?
Why were the Police sent, instead of a collegue or friend or family member ??
