Whilst I don't necessarily agree with the statement I do think it's a very good opener

What films match/exceed?

I thought the intro to Catch Me If You Can was really inventive. Still love that.

It’s not quite the opening scene (but part of the opening sequence) but the RS6 blast in Layer Cake has to be up there.

Once upon a time in the west.

No real dialogue, just a lot of ambient sounds and the most amazing ramp up of tension……

Quite liked the Daylight's End, music plays the part. With Johnny Strong.

Blade was good, still remember that film.

Dawn of the Dead remake? Best part of the film is the opening and is a great setup.

Raiders of the Lost Ark - rightfully famous opening.

The Dark Knight - the robbery.

Only watched that again recently, the opening is a good intro to the character and the world of the story.

Some great suggestions. Mad Max 1 and 2 have to be up there.
