Can't watch him until he invests in some shampoo and stops trying to talk like 1980s Clarkson.

Yes I saw the video and I agree, fair play to him. I saw a link to another video on youtube talking about this, but other than these, I haven't heard anyone else talking about.

I really hope this sort of behaviour doesn't spread.

Bit harsh. I'm not a huge fan of his videos, but there's no need for personal insults.

Been subscribed to his channel since the early Evora days. He does well when discussing things more important that reviewing a car.

With regard to BYD and their behaviour; I fear for the future of motoring journalism. Few people are willing to pay for quality journalism, so it’d be no surprise if more and more chose to take the money and give up journalistic integrity. And those who want to remain free of manufacturer’s influence need to think about potential legal action.

Perhaps you should watch this one.
And personal insults are very poor form in my opinion.

Let's just hope James takes it in the light hearted manner in which it was presumably intended.

Mods can we firstly ban the poster above with the personal insults.. dreadful.

Also.. the vlogger thread is the place for this, we don't need spin off threads for every youtuber.

Some Chinese manufacturers are paying for good write ups and excluding those who want to form and publish their own opinions.

It's not a personal insult. I'm just pointing out that he looks really greasy and unwashed in most of his videos and it makes him an unpleasant watch. If he would just wash his hair before turning the camera on, I'm sure he'd have a lot more viewers.

And suing people who either write things they don't like, or choose not to go to their event and publish their offer of payment.

It's grubby and I applaud James for the video, there are a few automotive journalists who I look at less favourably now because of this.

As regards the shampoo comment, if the part of his 'look' that you find most of putting is his hair I'm surprised, the Rolf Harris goatee and loud shirts are a far bigger crime! jester

And taking legal action against those who say anything damaging to the brand (whether true or not).
And offering large amounts of money for reporting anyone who says anything damaging to the brand.
So if you criticising any aspect of any of BYD’s cars, you might not want to risk a visit to anywhere China claims as part of its territory.

Probably best you don’t watch, and he can keep doing his hair however he liked.

There was also some suggestion that Jonny Smith was taking Jaecoo's shilling on a video he did a while back that people of jumped on. Having read Jonny's reply I think he's been fair but it did worry for me a bit as I always found him very honest and open and it would really tarnish my opinion of him if had been doing advertorials. As it was it was some silly influencer race but I don't recall him saying anything bad about the car although I didn't watch all of it as I got bored.
