I think this is just that little bit too old for a remake considering it is from 1977. I grew up watching these sort of films as a young child, but I am guessing most people who remember this have to be in their late 50s at least now.

I don't think this age group go to the cinema, and youngsters are not going to know what it is or be interested.

I used to watch Smokey and the Bandit all the time when I was a kid with my Dad. One of the few things we actually bonded over.

I have re-watched it many times since and still love it. Very nostalgic.

A remake would be totally unnecessary and most likely rubbish.
