Letterboxd - opinions, inc for a teenager

My (early teens) son is badgering me to let him download this app.
On the surface it seems pretty harmless, but it IS still social media, and I won't be there to keep an eye on what he's reading / who's messaging him / etc.
I'm also nervous he'll lose hours in it when he should be studying / doing something useful with his life.
Has anyone used it? What is it like / is it suitable for someone that age or not?
