Quest: I like (most) of JM's stuff.

OK, a gang messing around in the shed or his pub garden.
I was talking to one of the owners of the village pub... they might have a few new games for the summer.

RiIP to Will Daws, who passed away a few weeks ago.
( JM long time friend & Producer of many if his series).

Must admit, I gave up on this after the first two episodes; I know that James chuntering on is his 'thing', but he started to get on my nerves a bit.

In 2009 James May and a team of volunteers used 20,000 sections of Scalextric track to recreate the 2.95 mile Brooklands motor racing circuit.

Those were the days. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GHKLVy6vBkw

They all seem a bit mad... in a nice sort of way.
It doesn't seem quite as scripted as Cole & Co.
( Switch off... That was me with the Smallest Cog).

NB: Good publicity for his pub though.

His Toy Stories series & toys for boys / girls was good.
Not so much his series where he just dismantled random things...to rebuild them again.

Thought I'd brought this prog to the collectives notice some weeks ago but cannot find it.
Saw it advertised and thought oh this'll be good. How wrong could I be.
Watched the first episode thought it dreadful drivel, slow, uninteresting, badly put together. Someone earlier mentioned Henry Cole. HC is a bit wobbly but is streets ahead of this JM series.

That explains a few things...I thought that there would be a thread on it BEFORE it started.

The restorations aren't to the Repair shop standard, but it does follow the old tried & tested format.

The parking ticket one was a bit stupid..,& went on for too long.
(Boring)

I really enjoyed his Toys programmes, and his Japan series, but just about everything else he's put out since, not so much.

Its passable 'slow tv' but thats about it really. Still beats watching the soaps though I suppose!

Watched, well, struggled, through the first episode and gave up.

No where near up to the usual JM standard.

This is basically the second series of "James May and the Dull Men" isn't it? That was all from his shed/pub. It's something I can have on in the background, though his "cooling pants" experiment was properly funny.

That's my take on it. I much prefer his You Tube output. Watching his amiable ramblings for 15 minutes suits me better than a whole hour at once.

They seem to have pinched a bit of 'Repair Shop' too. Last week a telescope, this week a Victorian Games Compendium Chest. All light entertainment, though. smile

I watched E3 online since it was pulled.
