Fantastic actor.

I really liked him in some of his lesser known films, Colours, for example.

Good age though. RIP.

First noticed him as the cab driver in Bullitt. Either a late starter or came into films from the theatre.

I know, I'll go and find out.

Yes, he considered himself as 'late blooming.' He was in To Kill A Mocking Bird in 1962 several years before Bullitt.

Loved his performance in ‘The Natural’ with the late great Robert Redford.

I was in a film with him.

My one and only time as an extra.
A more minor part you could not have.

"A Shot At Glory" filmed at Palmerston, Dumfries. About a very minor football team. Culbockie(?) FC.

All McCoist was in it too.

Robert Duval RIP.

All of Ally McCoist was in it? Must have been shot in widescreen 16:9 smile

From what I've heard, it is sounds as though Robert Duvall & Super Ally had a good time making the film.

It was all very jolly but quite a flop.

The film that is.

A superb character actor, RIP.

I loved his performance as a cattle rancher in Open Range, one of his lesser known films but a great western.

An amazing age, he's always reminded me of Gene Hackman who also passed this year and at the same age seemingly.

Open Range and Second Hand Lions are probably my two favourites of his.

Great range of roles through his long career and perhaps unlucky to not win more Oscars, watched him in the Judge just last week and it was well worth seeing.

Funnily enough I had a spare few hours on Sunday I was flicking through Netflix, came across Falling Down, thinking to myself "not seen this for ages" so put it on, brilliant film.

Like iconic music artists who've been playing for decades and are still relevant, there seems to be a core group of actors who've been in the game for decades too, like Robert Duvall and Gene Hackman, even if they've not done much for a few years, they are still well known and highly regarded with a great back catalogue, I wonder who the modern equivalent is, both in music and acting. I can't see Dwayne Johnson or Zac Efron being held in similar regard, 40 or 50 years later.
