Movies that mean most to you?
Discussion
We all have the movie that connects, I have a series through my life. As a young lad I remember King Kong the original, I watched this in my grandmother house with my father and younger brother. The first that I put in my "locker".My uncle Jim took me to see Zulu when I was round 10, I am now on the cusp of 63, thanks Jim, gone but missed a special man to me.
Now I have two that I find more connected to than these greats, these being first "Local Hero" being a Jock the resonance is strong, then in a close second I give you the "Natural" with Robert Redford. This is quite abstract to me as I have never played baseball or see baseball played yet I wish I had. Over to you, hopefully some will films will be yet unseen and possible top these two in there impact on me.

Oh yes, speaking of dates. I saw "A Life Less Ordinary" in 1997 on two consecutive nights in the same London West End cinema with two different women. On the second occasion I pretended I'd not seen it before. It was the one (brief) period in my life where I actually lived up to my PH name. I'm not sure it suited me though and didn't end that well.

We don't. I love films, I watch loads, some I enjoy more than others, but in the end they're just stories that don't mean anything more to me than that.Antony Moxey said:

Gladiator was the first film I went to town to watch with my mates. I think some of us were under 12 so had to blag our way in, those were fun times. Edit. That can't be right because it came out in 2000, most likely Ace Ventura WNCs. The memory isn't what it once was.
Similarly I was 14 when I got in to see Starship Troopers, which is 15 rated. The fascist themes may have washed over me but the communal shower scene didn't

Hello Anthony, each to their own, I do hope one breaks through for you. I have found on many occasions that it is where you are in life, age, family, etc that an event you never expected to impact on you does dramatically.
Thanks for the movies so far, I have seen most if not all and I enjoyed them, waiting for a wild card to find me another impactful movie.

You're right about the age/time of life thing. I've certainly found movies/music have been more deeply affecting as I've grown older. But I completely get Anthony's point; there's loads I don't find emotionally affecting that would make some think me a psychopath! I've a number of films that stick with me for various reasons. Some for the experience in the screening (Avengers Endgame was an incredible crowd experience, the first Paranormal Activity so much fun with people literally running out etc), some for how the film made me feel at the time and some for what it represented.
Probably my best example of this is Jurassic Park. As a kid obsessed with Dinosaurs (still am!) this film blew my tiny mind. It allowed me to imagine the reality of this world and be transported for a couple of hours. More than that though, it's one of my earliest memories of going to the cinema with my Mum, who absolutely loved it. It was the dawn of surround sound and hearing the Raptor's from all angles was amazing.
It's still one of her favourite films and it meant we saw every one of the follow ups, with it switching to me taking her for the most recent trilogy plus one (she wasn't a fan of the last one, not enough T Rex for her apparently).
