Saturday Live (and later Friday Night Live) was on in the UK in the 80s. It wasn't a spin-off of SNL though. Ben Elton, Fry and Laurie et al. Each week Ade Edmonson and Rik Mayall appeared as 'The Dangerous Brothers'. Sketches usually involved blank-firing Uzis on full auto, explosives, chainsaws and Ade being set on fire during 'Dante's Towering Inferno' which went slightly wrong. It's on YouTube.
The U.K. version of Colin & Michael’s weekend update was pretty cringe. They copied the side eye, in jokes without being that funny.

The thing is that if you are going to do that you have to be edgy. They weren’t.https://youtube.com/shorts/yUw1BSDjxhQ?si=ST9TEAPt...

SNL USA is a bit hit and miss, from what I've seen.
The stuff we see and hear about is going to be the gems. There'll be an awful of dross and filler. Spitting Image was the same despite its legendary status, and they didn't have to pump it out every single week for years on end.
Didn't watch the subject of this thread.
