couldn't see a thread for it, but i'm a fan of some off the SNL stuff that ends up on youtube. i hope the UK version is gloves off and does't hold back.

Wasn't it tried here in the 1980s?

SNL USA is a bit hit and miss, from what I've seen.

Saturday Live (and later Friday Night Live) was on in the UK in the 80s. It wasn't a spin-off of SNL though. Ben Elton, Fry and Laurie et al. Each week Ade Edmonson and Rik Mayall appeared as 'The Dangerous Brothers'. Sketches usually involved blank-firing Uzis on full auto, explosives, chainsaws and Ade being set on fire during 'Dante's Towering Inferno' which went slightly wrong. It's on YouTube.

I’ve managed 20 minutes. I don’t think they’ll be many more.

Beyond awful. The US version has only ever survived by a small percentage of genuinely funny stuff that has gone on to reach comedy gold status, mainly by true comedy legends. This though, absolute turd, and Tina Fey as much as I love her isn’t going to save it.

Well just watched it.

It had some laugh out loud moments and some moments of utter boredom. Much like US SNL.

It’s an outdated format but to be honest it was nice to see some non panel show comedy.

The U.K. version of Colin & Michael’s weekend update was pretty cringe. They copied the side eye, in jokes without being that funny.

lol.

I happened to be browsing Sky after I watched it and saw this description for Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation.

Someone is having a fun night.

The thing is that if you are going to do that you have to be edgy. They weren’t.

The stuff we see and hear about is going to be the gems. There'll be an awful of dross and filler.

Spitting Image was the same despite its legendary status, and they didn't have to pump it out every single week for years on end.

Didn't watch the subject of this thread.
