Reduce Sky Bill

I've received an email from Sky this morning telling me that my monthly payment is increasing from £85 to £108 from September.

I'm going to try the usual trick of ringing up to cancel to see if they'll do another offer, but I'd also like to look at other ways to reduce the bill. I've never found it easy to 'build' a package I'm happy with as I don't think Sky make it easy for you.

Our current package is;

Sky Signature
Sky Sports HD
Sky Sports Complete including Sky Sports+
Multiscreen
Ultra HD
Sky HD

The most important aspect of Sky for me personally is F1. I like to watch it live, and I love being able to record it and watch is at a time that's suitable for me.

We have football, and while it's handy I'm not really that fussed about it, but I don't think you can have F1 without football anymore.

If I'm keeping Sky I'd also like to keep multi-room (2 rooms).

The only other thing we're really using Sky for is recording some soaps, but the Mrs can change her habits and use on-demand to get around that one. I like to record BTCC so I can watch it back at my own pace one race at a time.

Before I give Sky a ring, it would be useful to see how others have solved the problems.

BTW, We also have subscriptions for Prime Video, Paramount, Disney+, Netflix and Apple TV. I know Sky TV has rolled some of these into their subscription now but I don't know if that's just via Sky or if you can still use the dedicated apps as well? If so, there might be an option to keep Sky and cancel a couple of Subscriptions to reduce overall costs?

I had Sky and just went cold turkey and cancelled it as I couldn't be doing with the whole negotiation thing as if they know you're not going to cancel what's their incentive to really offer you the best deal?

Given you have all the other subscriptions the "cold turkey" option could be cancel Sky get a NOW TV sports subscription for £28 and take some time to work out what to do.

Depends if the other Sky functionality is worth £80/month to you.

If you have other things like Netflix then binning Sky completely for a bit and just do a Now TV. Or, and I'd mever suggest anything illegal obviously, but 60 quid a year on a dodgy Firestick would give you the Sky sports channels in HD Inc F1. But that would be illegal I can't stress that enough...
